The Academic Center for Research in Tourism and Services (CACTUS) members are professors within the Tourism and Services Department, Faculty of Business and Tourism, The Bucharest University of Economic Studies with recognized projects and initiatives in the industry and quality work such as articles published in renowned journals and books cited by many other authors.

The purpose of the Academic Center for Research in Tourism and Services is to promote scientific research in the fields of tourism and services interconnected with other related areas to increase our international visibility and competitiveness in relation to other universities and research centers and comparable institutions and administrative authorities from Romania and even other EU countries.

The Academic Center for Research in Tourism and Services aims to undertake research projects in the field of tourism and services based on varied types of methods and approaches, involving mixed teams of professors and researchers from other areas. Through its members, the center also targets to disseminate research papers in different media including publication of scientific articles in ISI and BDI journals and of books in recognized publishing houses.

The Center intends to support and develop the research potential of professors and researchers from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies by creating interdisciplinary teams to conduct research and advance projects with domestic and international funding. It also intends to promote young members, doctoral and postdoctoral candidates, master and undergraduate students and involve them in order to expand their research by working in mixed teams to obtain research grants.

Other activities of CACTUS include consultancy for tourism and services enterprises and from other compatible connected areas, expertise in developing EU funding projects, involvement in doctoral and postdoctoral research, training for graduates, scientific services, cooperation with partners from different fields, as well as representatives of central and local government and civil society, etc.
